YangMing Channel
YangMing Channel refers to both the Large intestine Channel and the Stomach Channel connected. Flow cycle of the Large intestine Channel The Large intestine channel starts at the tip of the index finger. It runs upward along the radial side of the index finger and passes through the interstice of the first and second metacarpal bones, dipping into the depression between the tendons of extensor pollicis longus and brevis. Following the lateral anterior aspect of the forearm, it reaches the lateral side of the elbow where it ascends along the lateral anterior aspect of the upper arm to the highest point of the shoulder. Along the anterior border of the acromion, it goes up to the seventh cervical vertebra and descends to the supraclavicular fossa to connect to the lung. The branch from the supraclavicular fossa runs upward to the neck, passes through the cheek and enters the gums of the lower teeth. Then it curves around the upper lip and crosses the opposite channel at the philtrum on the Governor Vessel and upward to both sides of the nose to connect with the Stomach Channel. Flow cycle of the Stomach channel The Stomach channel starts at the lateral side of the ala nasi. From there it descends to the bridge of the nose and meets with the bladder channel. Then it turns downward along the lateral side of the nose and enters the upper gum. After reemergence, it curves around the lips and descends to meet with the conception vessel at the mentolabial groove where it runs posterolateraly across the lower portion of the cheek at ST 5. It then winds along the angle of the mandible and ascends in front of the ear and transverses GB 3. Following the anterior hair line, it reaches the forehead. The external flowing trunk descends from clavicular fossa and passes by the medial side of the breast, running besides the umbilicus and reaching Qijie. The first branch emerges in front of ST 5 and runs downward to ST 9. From there it runs down the throat and enters the supraclavicular fossa. Then it descends and passes through the diaphragm, entering the stomach to which it pertains and links with the spleen. The second branch from the lower orifice of the stomach descends inside the abdomen and joins the previous trunk of the channel at Qijie. From there it runs downward, traversing ST 31 and reaching the knee through the prominence of the quadriceps muscle of the thigh. Then it continues to run downward along the anterior border of the lateral aspect of the tibia, passes through the dorsum of the foot and reaches the lateral side of the tip of the second toe. The third branch stems from the region three cun below the knee and enters the lateral side of the middle toe. The fourth branch emerges from the dorsum of the foot, enters the great toe, comes out from the tip of the great toe and links with the Spleen channel.
yin and yang
Laws of yin and yang: Everything in the universe contains two aspects which are in opposition and also in unison with one another. They are relative to one another, nothing is pure Yin or pure Yang, yin always contains some yang and vise verse . They oppose and complement each other while always in a dynamic cycle. Therefore, matters are impelled to develop and change. Yang expands and Yin contracts, Yang is characteristically like fire and Yin like water. To follow the laws of Yin and Yang one must balance the two within one's self. For example, during the winter which is Yin, eat foods with more Yang energy like mutton and ginger, during the Summer which is Yang, eat foods with more yin energy like pears and watermelon, etc.
Yin-Qi is contractive, black, cold, female, down, negative, having the characteristics of water, etc.
Genuine-Qi, the good, natural, healthy Qi that we need to live.
